Sony officially released its new flagship, Xperia XZ2 in the Mobile World Congress agenda series (MWC 2018). This launch is a package with the Xperia XZ2 Compact which has lower specifications.
The Xperia XZ2 design appears more "fresh" than the previous Sony Smartphone line, which still has a screen with an aspect ratio of 16: 9. The body is slimmer and bigger with a 5.7-inch screen with an 18: 9 aspect ratio, like the flagship in general.
The back of the Xperia XZ2 is curved 3D. The front screen is coated with Gorilla Glass 5 and supports full HD resolution plus 1080 x 2160 pixels.
The edges of the screen leave only a little bezel-less, but not for the top and bottom which are still quite thick. The upper frame is used as the front camera house and proximity sensor, while the bottom frame looks empty; there is only a splash of the Sony logo.
The Xperia XZ2's slim body is achieved by removing the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. This news might be less fun for Sony fans, given Sony's favorite audio quality.
Instead, Sony provides its customers with USB Type-C to connect to a 3.5 millimeter audio jack adapter. The position of the headphone jack is replaced by the SIM card slot which now moves to the top of the device.
Other changes are found on the fingerprint sensor. If the Sony Xperia used to place the fingerprint sensor on the right side under the power button, then on the Xperia XZ2 it was behind, rounded under a single camera.
Slow-motion video from Galaxy S9
Questioning the camera, the Xperia XZ2 is equipped with a 19 megapixel single camera with an Exmore RS sensor. This camera can record slow-motion video with a frame rate of 960 fps with a resolution of Full HD 1080 pixels.
This is an increase from the previous line, which recorded 960 fps video only in 720p HD resolution. The Samsung S9, which has just been released by Samsung, also has a slow-motion 960 fps 720p resolution video.
The Sony camera is also capable of recording 4K HDR video at a limit of 30 fps. On the front is a 5 megapixel camera with f / 2.2 lens openings.
Xperia XZ2 also offers the option of wireless charging using Qi wireless charging to charge a 3.180 mAh battery. This feature is not found on the Xperia XZ2 Compact.
In the Xperia XZ2, Sony also introduced the Dynamic Vibration System feature as in the game console controller. It seems that this is proof that Sony has promised to bring gaming and video experience to the Smartphone grip.
Coupled with S-Force Front Surround technology that emulates three-dimensional sound that resonates naturally and is more realistic.
In terms of hardware, the Xperia XZ2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory with the support of a microSD slot.
The flagship also has an IP68 certificate that allows water and dust resistant devices, and runs with the Android 8.0 Oreo OS.
Xperia XZ2 comes with four color variants namely Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green and Ash Pink. Sony said if the Xperia XZ2 will be available globally soon from March 2018.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium looks different compared to other flagship phones lately. The screen measuring 5.8 inches still has a conventional 16: 9 aspect ratio and thick framed on the upper and lower sides.
However, as summarized by Phone Arena, the screen of IPS LCD material on the screen has very high resolutions, which are 3,840 x 2,160 pixels (4K).
On the back of the Xperia XZ2 Premium is embedded a dual camera with a resolution of 19 megapixels and 12 megapixels, which is capable of recording 4K HDR video and is claimed to have the highest sensitivity level, ISO 12,800, for recording video on a cell phone.
The innards of the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium include a Snapdragon 845 chip, 6 GB RAM, 64 GB storage media with a micro SD card slot, and a 3,540 mAh battery. There is also a 13 megapixel resolution front camera.
Although the Xperia XZ2 Premium has not yet entered the market, Sony has reportedly begun to develop its successor. The next high-end Smartphone is called to carry a screen with a more current 18: 9 aspect ratio.
The device began to be present in the United States market on 30 July 2018. The price tag is set at around 999 US dollars.
